Online Enrollments Growing

According to Sloan Consortium's 2005 annual review, enrollment in online education programs is increasing rapidly. In 2004, 2.35 million students sought degrees or training via the Internet, compared to only 1.98 million students in 2003, a growth rate of 18.7%. Schools are becoming more enthusiastic about continued future growth, with nearly 75% expecting their online enrollments to continue to increase. More than 56% of the schools offering online education consider it a "critical long-term strategy" to offer courses and programs via the Internet.

Today students can study on the Internet to earn vocational or technical career certificates and diplomas in areas as diverse as Veterinary Assisting or Medical/Dental Office Assisting to Automotive Repair. Top tier universities and colleges offer the same degree programs and curricula online; Associate, Bachelor, Master and Doctorate degrees, as they are offering to on-campus students. Generally, these online schools offer the same curricula, student services and benefits to online degree seekers, as to the on-campus students.

It's easier than ever to take advantage of increasing your education by enrolling in an online program. When compared to traditional delivery of continuing education, online schools are becoming more and more competitive and sought after. The Sloan report indicates a slightly higher percentage of core faculty teaching in online programs than in the face-to-face classes in more traditional delivery. With such high quality educational opportunities available online, more people are taking the opportunity to advance their career options by furthering their education.

Whether for career or personal reasons, continuing your education at any age can be an extremely rewarding experience. Students from every age group, and from every walk of life are pursuing their educational goals via the Internet. With programs available in many subjects and many types of degrees, certificates, and diplomas (including high school and career diplomas), and foreign language education there is something for everyone.
