5 Tips That Help Find Funds To Cover College Expenses
Wipe the sweat of your forehead, and celebrate that you have been accepted into college. But don’t take that final sigh of relief yet the work is not over. Now, you have to make sure that your expenses (i.e. tuition, books, computer and living expenses) are covered. Many of us do not have the luxury of having school paid for. Meaning we have no other choice then to resort to scholarships and financial aid.
Below are five tips you should definitely consider before starting to find coverage for your expenses.
1. Speak with your parents.
- Make sure you and your parents are on the same page. Ask them: How much money do they have to assist in paying for some of the expenses? Make sure you have a copy of your parent’s most recent tax return. Analyze how much all your costs will be. Do not under estimate. Analyze the cost of tuition, books, etc.
2. Speak with the school's financial aid counselor.
-Counselors are very knowledgeable and get paid to help students find funding for school. Ensure the counselor informs you of all your options. Ask about scholarships and financial aid. Find out the difference between subsidized and unsubsidized loans. Know all the deadlines for applications.
