Parents Going Back To School

Parents Going Back To School

Parents hoping to go back to school should stop thinking the idea is farfetched. Parents whether married or single have found ways to making it through high school and college while having children. It may not be simple, but it can be done.

The one key factor parents need to have is determination. Without determination parents will run at the first obstacle they face. Realize once you have the determination there are many, many options for the working parent to successfully complete an education. In fact, many schools are aware that students returning to school may have a full-time employment and/or children.

Once you are determined to follow through with your dream of going on to school. Realize what you need to do. If a high school diploma is where you want to start, then look into on-line help. Many Web sites offer the High school diploma courses from the convenience of your own home. Under any of the tabs on ELearningYellowPages.com under other categories is a High School Diploma link. Many of the schools on the link offer high school diploma help at a convenient price.

If the dream is getting a vocational or college degree, then many options also exist. First, how much time is available to spend on studying or working on schoolwork.  Once the time is estimated then you will know if you can take classes on site or if they have to be on-line.

Then start looking into schools, whether they are on-line or schools in your area. ELearningYellowPages.com offers a variety of choices you can look into for both areas, vocational and college. Also decide what you want to do and which of the two choices is better. Some careers require vocational training others are better suited by going to college.

As for the financial aspect, many resources are available: scholarships and financial aid. Check the link under other categories for scholarship and financial aid matching. Often times because you are a parent there may be more resources available to you, to fund your education. Also look into the company you work for, they may have tuition reimbursement for your education.

And finally, keep in mind what you are doing in the long run will be great for you and your family. Let determination be inspired by your children. When they grow older and are faced with obstacles they will be able to look to you for guidance because you not only finished school while working, but while having children as well. It will make it all more meaningful when you explain to them the value of an education!

5 Tips That Help Find Funds To Cover College Expenses

5 Tips That Help Find Funds To Cover College Expenses

Wipe the sweat of your forehead, and celebrate that you have been accepted into college. But don’t take that final sigh of relief yet the work is not over. Now, you have to make sure that your expenses (i.e. tuition, books, computer and living expenses) are covered. Many of us do not have the luxury of having school paid for. Meaning we have no other choice then to resort to scholarships and financial aid.

Below are five tips you should definitely consider before starting to find coverage for your expenses.

1. Speak with your parents.
- Make sure you and your parents are on the same page. Ask them: How much money do they have to assist in paying for some of the expenses? Make sure you have a copy of your parent’s most recent tax return. Analyze how much all your costs will be. Do not under estimate. Analyze the cost of tuition, books, etc.

2. Speak with the school's financial aid counselor.
-Counselors are very knowledgeable and get paid to help students find funding for school. Ensure the counselor informs you of all your options. Ask about scholarships and financial aid. Find out the difference between subsidized and unsubsidized loans. Know all the deadlines for applications.

3.Search the web.
-There is a plethora of information on the Web. There may be information about scholarships and financial aid that you are not aware of. And the information on the Internet will help. Details about deadlines or specific definitions for the types of loans can also be found on-line. Web site like FastWeb.com , ScholarshipExperts.com and FreeScholarshipGuide.com are some excellent sites to start your search.

4. Apply, apply, apply
-Find out about every scholarship you may be eligible for and apply. It does not hurt. The more scholarships you apply for the better your chances of being granted money. There are scholarships available for Hispanics, African Americans, left-handed people, and much more. Find as many that meet your description and just apply! The search services mentioned in #3 above make it easy to apply to many sources of financial aid, grants, and scholarships in one stop!

5.Re-review before turning in final copy.
-Most scholarships require an essay, so make sure you have some prepared and on file. Don’t procrastinate and write them at last minute, your chances of making mistakes are higher. Check out the Essay Critique and Editing link in the College Prep tab, it will provide useful information to making your essay as error free as possible. There is even a free essay writing online course.
